We restore iconic furniture with precision.
Mod Restoration specializes in the reupholstery and restoration of mid-century design, preserving the original integrity of each piece through disciplined craftsmanship and exceptional materials. We carry a vast collection of the mid-century fabric and leather brands from Denmark and beyond!

We don't reinterpret design.
We restore it.

What we restore
Respect for the original.
Every piece that enters our workshop is approached with respect for its original form, proportions, and intent. We do not reinterpret great design—we restore it with care, accuracy, and restraint.
Our process
Careful work at every stage.
Strip to the frame
Each piece is taken down to its foundation so we can properly assess its structure, materials, and condition.

Rebuild with integrity
We repair and rebuild what is necessary using methods and materials that support the original design.

Upholster with precision
From seam placement to cushion shape, every detail is executed with discipline and accuracy.

Finish with care
The final piece is refined, inspected, and prepared for delivery with the level of finish it deserves.
Our Owner
The upholstery queen
Hanny Lerner, founder of Mod Restoration, has always been drawn to the quiet beauty of mid-century design—the way a chair can feel effortless, yet be so intentionally constructed. What started as an appreciation quickly turned into something much deeper. She has traveled to experience these pieces where they were meant to live—standing inside the Barcelona Pavilion, studying the purity of its lines, and traveling to Copenhagen to immerse herself in Danish design culture and source fabrics that stay true to the originals. For Hanny, this isn't just inspiration—it's part of the responsibility. To restore something properly, you have to understand it completely.
That same mindset carries through every project that comes into the workshop. Under her direction, Mod Restoration has worked on some incredible spaces and pieces—from the banquettes at The Modern at MoMA to the lounge seating at Le Bernardin, a mid-century Airstream for designer Soren Rose, and many others. The studio has also created custom work and reupholstery for showrooms at Adidas, Chanel, REI, upholstered the walls at the Barclays Center, reupholstered furniture for West Elm's photoshoots, Jonathan Adler's personal collection, along with chairs for The New School at Parsons. No matter the scale, every project is approached the same way: with care, respect, and an understanding that these pieces—and spaces—deserve to be done right.
