Every piece is stripped to the frame, rebuilt with care, and upholstered to honor the original design.
Brooklyn workshop · Nationwide shipping
Mod Restoration specializes in expert reupholstery and restoration of mid-century modern and Danish furniture, preserving the original design intent of each piece. Whether you're looking to reupholster an Eames Lounge Chair, restore a Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair, or update a vintage heirloom, our process focuses on correct proportions, precise seam work, and historically accurate materials. Every piece is stripped to the frame, rebuilt as needed, and upholstered with the same level of craftsmanship used in its original production.
We work with premium fabrics and leathers from leading textile houses, offering guidance on durability, yardage, and material selection to ensure long-term performance. Based in our Brooklyn workshop and serving clients nationwide, we provide white-glove shipping and handle both residential and commercial reupholstery projects. If you're searching for expert furniture reupholstery near you or nationwide restoration services, Mod Restoration delivers museum-quality results built to last.
Our process
Each piece is taken down to its foundation so we can properly assess its structure, materials, and condition.

We repair and rebuild what is necessary using methods and materials that support the original design.

From seam placement to cushion shape, every detail is executed with discipline and accuracy.

The final piece is refined, inspected, and prepared for delivery with the level of finish it deserves.

What furniture restoration services does Mod Restoration offer?
We offer reupholstery, custom upholstery, wood refinishing (as part of a reupholstery project), Danish cording, cane and rattan. We also offer foam replacement for cushions.
How much does it cost to reupholstery my chair or couch?
How do I select fabrics or leather?
How much does reupholstery cost in Brooklyn or NYC?
Is it worth reupholstering a sofa or chair?
For well-built furniture — especially mid-century pieces, Danish modern designs, antiques, and family heirlooms — reupholstery almost always preserves more value than replacement. The frames on iconic pieces are typically built to last a century, while modern mass-market sofas rarely last fifteen years. Reupholstery also lets you choose exactly the fabric, color, and detailing you want.
How long does reupholstery take?
Most projects take about six weeks from approval to delivery. Complex pieces, multiple services (i.e. reupholstery & refinishing) tufted work, or fabric back-orders may extend the timeline. Rush service is available for an additional fee.
Do you pick up and deliver?
Yes. We provide pickup and delivery throughout the New York City tri-state area, including Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Westchester, northern New Jersey, and Fairfield County, CT.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes. We're happy to work with COM (customer's own material). We'll let you know how much yardage you need and any considerations for the specific piece.
Do you reupholster antique or vintage furniture?
Absolutely. While we specialize in mid-century and Danish modern, we regularly reupholster Victorian, art deco, traditional, and antique pieces. Our team includes craftsmen experienced with horsehair stuffing, hand-tied springs, and other traditional construction methods.
